McClintock Park Campground, Athelstane, Marinette County, Wisconsin

McClintock Campground is a small 10 unit Campground located on the Peshtigo River in Central Marinette County, Town of Silver Cliff.

This is a primitive campground with no electrical hook-ups and only a hand pump for water. There are restrooms onsite, in the form of vault toilets.

McClintock campground has direct access to the Marinette County ATV trails. This campground is in a fantastic location, fairly centralized in comparison to major destinations in the area, such as Crivitz, Goodman and Oconto County trails to the west.

My opinion, The trails in the area, maintained by the local club in Athelstane, Near North Trail Riders are fun and very well maintained! This part of Wisconsin is hilly and there are waterfalls throughout Marinette County, which are wonderful to stop at and take a break from riding! Back to the campground, Our campsite was #7 right on the river. Nothing like sitting outside and hearing the sounds of a tranquil river nearby. Beautiful! Campsite #7 is also separate from all the other campsites.

Overall, I would highly recommend this campground, if you don’t need electric or other hookups. Very peaceful!

Getting To McClintock Campground…

Another item of note for this campground is access. The best way to the campground is from the south, County Hwy C and Parkway Road, north on Parkway road because it is paved to McClintock Campground. Any other way, it’s all dirt roads!

Tip…

Knowing what I know now, I’d choose either campsite # 1 or #7. #1 is higher in elevation overlooking the Peshtigo River. Only issue would be it’s the first campsite near the entrance, but since this is a small campground, You really don’t have to worry much about “traffic”, Just the occasional ATVer checking out the park / Campground.
