I set out to find a way to bring our dogs with and keep them safe and comfortable. I searched through many solutions and was not satisfied with any one of those, for various reasons.
With that said, I took apart the passenger seat, unbolted the seat cushions and back and set out to figure a solution.

The easiest thing I could think to do was to take a peice of aluminum we had lying around and bolt it to the frame of the seat, so that way, I can take it out and put it in easily. Just like taking out the seat. I made the platform longer to cover the area where the passengers legs would go. Basically to keep the dogs from falling into that area while braking.
As you can see, the solution works great, It’s semi permanant attached to the machine, so it’s not something that is flimsy or that would cause injury. Especially considering, I throw two bankets on the platform so the dogs are comfortable and the dont bounce around while traveling down the trail.
